A few links that caught my eye this week relating to law and religion in the UK.

Nicklinson & Lamb v United Kingdom. Assisted suicide case and the compatibility of the UK law and Article 8 of the ECHR (right of respect for “private and family life”). See R (Nicklinson) v Ministry of Justice.

After the US decision in Obergefell v Hodges, there are a lot of items popping up about homosexuality and law and religion around the world. Here are two from the UK.

  • In the UK, the Isle of Man has reformed some of its criminal laws relating to homosexuality. See this article from the European Court of Humans Rights Sexual Orientation Blog.
  • Churches Ministry Counsel published new guidelines for filling vacancies; churches in Scotland uphold the traditional view of the Church of Scotland on civil partnerships. Read the guidelines here.
